Clothing Swap!

If you've been a long time reader of this blog, you know that I am a big fan of clothing swaps! Well today was another clothing swap, hosted by my friend Tracy. Soooo fun! Maya came along, while Zoe and Mike had a date. And my sister Karen made the trip up from Brooklyn to join the fun!

Granted, it was tough to get down to serious business with a baby in tow. BUT, I did leave with a pair of $200 designer jeans, NEW gym shoes, a skirt, two shirts and a sweater... Here's my take home stash:

AND, it's so much fun to see your own items go home with happy new owners. I even re- swapped some clothes that I had gotten at previous clothing swaps.

This time around I wasn't able to stay for the 'show everyone what you got' part of the party, which is always fun to see who is going home with your things, and what came from who. But a certain little one was ready for a nap... and pushing that limit was not going to end well. :)

Clothing swap, take 2

This past weekend, I attended my second clothing swap. A great time was had by all! It is a lot of fun to see others walk away with items that have been gathering dust in my closet, and myself to be able to walk away with a handful of great items. This time I walked away with a great coat, 4 skirts, 4 shirts, and some scarves that Zoe has already been using her imagination to play with. :)

Let me throw out yet another plug to you all that this is a great idea where everyone wins! :) No sense keeping things that no longer fit (wondering if they will, someday)... especially when someone else could be getting great use out of it.

In recent clothing swap conversations I've had with friends, some have mentioned doing the same for kids. Another great idea, when kids grow so quickly out of one size and into another. They are often growing through a size before they have had a chance to get 'good wear' out of their clothes!. The more the merrier, because more attendees means more swapping items.

As for me, I'm keeping an ongoing bag of 'clothing swap' items- things that just aren't getting enough wear to warrant keeping. What a great excuse to get together and meet new friends.

Can you tell I'm a big fan of this idea?
