Daddy Daughter Paint Date
About once a week, on his day off, Mike takes Zoe for a daddy-daughter date. Typically they will do something like go to the park and grab a hot chocolate somewhere. This weekend, Mike brought Zoe down to the church to help repaint the youth room. She looks forward to these daddy dates all week long.
I'm glad someone picked up the camera and took this picture...
This shot is a bit blurry, but I still like it...
A fun weekend
A few more pictures from a very fun weekend...
It started off with a visit to Radio City Music Hall to see the Christmas Spectacular show with the Rockettes. this will put you in the mood for Christmas- wow! It was way fun. We went during their 'soft opening', so they were still working out a few kinks. A tap shoe came flying off of a dancer during one kick line, plus a few other minor mishaps that put a smile on my face.
This is a picture of the theatre after the audience had cleared out. We were still hanging around because... we had been busy checking out the backstage area with our own personal family tour guide. My younger sister works there. Among the highlights...
... the camels. This one is named Ted...
...and then my sister demonstrated how she holds the tray of water cups for the dancers as they exit the stage...
...keep up the good work, Karen. :)
... and then of course we had to try out some dance steps of our own on the stage.
As long as we were downtown, we went to FAO Schwartz and Zoe played some tunes on the big piano with her aunt and cousin.
Lots of fun memories this weekend! We are a fun bunch, after all. :)
A great time with the fam
We've been having a great weekend with some special visitors!
More pictures to follow...
Family Art Project
We have a big blank wall in our living room and have often talked about what to do with that space. We dream of all sorts of art that could go there, but until this past weekend hadn't acted on that idea.
We decided to buy 5 blank canvases, plus acrylic paint in Magenta, Yellow, Blue, White and Black. When we got home, the three of us mixed colors until we found five that we liked.... then we painted away!
We mixed the paint in small batches, to add some depth to each of the panels.
Family family family
The first big news of today is that I have a new nephew! :) We are eager to meet the cute little guy. He took his time to make his appearance, but at last arrived this morning- my dad's birthday!
I never did post pictures from our last IL visit, and being that today is a big day for family (since it grew!)... here are a few...
The puppy that is no longer a little puppy... and Grammy and Uncle James
Zoe had been talking about the cake she wanted to make for her cousin's 2nd birthday, for months. By this point in the trip, she was a sick kid, but we still squeezed in time for her to make the cake.
... and what a masterpiece it was!
